DescriptionThe presidency of India occupies a unique place in the country’s constitutional framework- as a symbol of national unity, continuity, and democratic aspiration. The Public’s President offers a grounded and accessible exploration of this institution through the lens of a young student, focusing on the tenure of Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the 15th President of India and the first from a janjatiya background. Rather than a biography, the book is a civic reflection on how the role of the President has evolved and what it represents for today’s youth. It situates Rashtrapati Bhavan within broader questions of constitutional morality, public service, and inclusion. Designed especially for students and young readers, the book aims to deepen engagement with democratic institutions by tracing how constitutional offices shape, and are shaped by, the aspirations of the people. It encourages a reimagining of leadership as both institutional and inspirational in character.Aadarsh Tripathy is a student of Grade 12 at Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur. Hailing from Odisha, his academic and community work focuses on disaster resilience, janjatiya development, and civic education. He is the founder of Ruins to Resilience, which strengthens community-led disaster response, and E3- Educate, Empower, Enterprise, a skills-based rehabilitation initiative for prison rehabilitation. His interest lies in understanding governance through both institutional study and lived experience. The Public’s President is his first book, written with the objective of introducing young citizens to the relevance of the Indian presidency and the responsibilities of democratic participation.
