Fanning presents the view point of a colonist who took up the cause of the British as a Loyalist during the revolution. As a commander he was able to capture much of the NC counsel of state and fought in both NC and SC. Through much of the war he was headquartered out of Cox's Mill in Randolph County NC. After the war he immigrated to Nova Scotia. It was originally published in the Confederate States of America in 1861.
